Pedestrian Killed In Long Beach Hit-And-Run Accident By Pacific Avenue and 25th Street
LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA (May 23, 2019) – A pedestrian was tragically killed in a car accident by the intersection of Pacific Avenue and 25th Street.
Long Beach police are saying that the female pedestrian was hit sometime around 9:20 p.m. Paramedics rushed to the scene and came across the pedestrian laying in the middle of the roadway.
Despite life-saving efforts the pedestrian later died due to her injuries. An investigation into the accident remains ongoing at this time.
Liability In Car Accidents
Drivers are supposed to yield the right of way to pedestrians that are in crosswalks. According to California Vehicle Code 21950, “The driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection, except as otherwise provided in this chapter.”
The family of any victim that died in a pedestrian accident may be able to seek justice through a wrongful death claim. A car accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your rights are. There are, however, statute of limitations associated with being able to file a claim, so it’s important to act quickly.
