California Highway Patrol are saying that the motorcycle accident took place around 8:00 p.m. Police think that the pig may have already been dead at the time of the accident.

Liability In Accidents With Farm Animals
Thousands of people are killed or seriously injured every year in accidents with farm animals. Property owners and farm animals have a responsibility to secure their animals and prevent them from wandering into the roadway. There are a few counties in California that are “open-range” where animals are allowed to roam freely. But for the most part an owner will be responsible if their animal wanders in to the roadway.
The family of a victim that died in an accident with a farm animal may be able to seek legal recourse under California Code of Civil Procedure 377.60. A wrongful death attorney can investigate your case free of charge and let you know what your options are. An attorney can track down the owner of an animal that got loose and hold them accountable. There are statute of limitations associated with being able to file a claim, so it’s important to act quickly.
