LAKE VIEW TERRACE: Two So Cal Edison Contractors Injured In Accident After Being Hit By Falling Utility Pole

Dec 21, 2018

Southern California Edison Contractors Working the Lake View Terrace Area of Los Angeles Were Injured In An Accident When They Were Hit By Falling Utility Pole

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (December 20, 2018) – Two contractors for Southern California Edison were seriously injured when they were struck by a falling utility pole in Lake View Terrace.

Los Angeles police are saying that the incident took place around 11:20 a.m. by Lopez Canyon Road. Paramedics arrived at the scene and began helping one of the injured workers. That worker was then airlifted to a local hospital.

It remains unclear how badly the other worker was injured. There is an ongoing investigation into what may have caused the high tension power line to suddenly collapse.

An aerial view of the accident scene shows that the incident happened in a remote location.

Liability In Utility Pole Collapses

Workers in California are protected under the state’s worker’s compensation system. An injured worker will be able to apply for benefits in order to get help with medical bills and lost wages. When a worker is injured they may also be able to file a third party negligence claim in order to recover damages. A third party claim may be possible if any entity separate from a worker’s employer caused an accident.

There are a number of factors that may cause a utility pole to collapse. For example, poles can deteriorate due to insects or age. Additional third-party cables added to the pole can contribute to the pole’s stress and load. Objects hitting the pole’s wires can create additional tension and make a collapse more likely. It’s important to have an experienced personal injury attorney investigate your case for potential third party negligence.
