Truck Accident On Irwindale 605 Freeway Injured One Person By Live Oak Avenue
IRWINDALE, CALIFORNIA (July 30, 2019) – At least one person was injured in a car accident with a concrete truck on the 605 Freeway near Live Oak Avenue.
California Highway Patrol are saying that the accident took place around 7:05 a.m. A gold or tan Honda was rear ended by a semi-truck causing it to overturn.
The driver of the Honda sustained a broken arm and had to be transported to the hospital in order to receive treatment. The driver of the concrete truck remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
An investigation into the cause of the accident remains ongoing at this time.
Liability In Semi-Truck Accidents
Truck drivers are supposed to scan the road ahead of them and take steps to prevent accidents. According to California Vehicle Code 22350, “No person shall drive a vehicle upon a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable or prudent having due regard for weather, visibility, the traffic on, and the surface and width of, the highway, and in no event at a speed which endangers the safety of persons or property.” There is simply no reason that a truck should ever rear end another vehicle.
Trucks are supposed to maintain a safe distance with the vehicle ahead of them. A fully loaded semi-truck can weigh as much as 80,000 lbs. They are therefore much more difficult to stop on balance. If a truck driver rear-ends another vehicle that is typically fairly strong evidence that they were speeding, distracted or following the lead vehicle too closely.
Any person that is injured due to the negligence of a truck driver may face civil liability through a bodily injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. Unfortunately, truck companies often fight hard to deny liability after an accident. A truck accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your options are.
