Homeless man killed in Echo Park pedestrian accident

According to ABC 7, a transient was struck and killed in a pedestrian accident following a car accident involving multiple vehicles in Echo Park on Wednesday, July 18, 2018.

The fatal pedestrian accident occurred around 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Coronado Street and Bellevue Avenue, under the 101 Freeway underpass.

According to the report, the driver of a red Porsche was speeding, tried to pass another vehicle and rear-ended it. After the initial impact, the driver continued driving, struck a parked vehicle, and crashed into a homeless encampment.

A man who was inside of the camp was struck and killed.

The driver of the Porsche did not sustain injuries.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the pedestrian accident.
