According to ABC 7, a suspected hit-and-run driver in a pickup truck was killed when his truck collided with another vehicle after fleeing the scene of the initial crash on Wednesday, September 6, 2017.
The suspected hit-and-run driver was in a white pickup truck when he struck a pedestrian near the intersection of Beverly Boulevard and Normandie Avenue. The driver fled the scene. Following the initial crash, the pickup truck collided with a Ford Bronco.
The suspected hit-and-run driver, who has not been identified, was ejected from his vehicle and died at the scene. Another person was transported to a nearby hospital and suffered fractured ribs. The pedestrian that was struck by the hit-and-run driver was also taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
According to authorities, empty beer cans were found in the hit-and-run driver’s vehicle.
Due to the high impact collision, a piece of metal flew off one of the vehicles, crashed into the window of a home and nearly struck a child sleeping in a crib.
The piece of metal broke the crib and luckily did not injure the child.
