USPS Truck Accident Injured Two People In Gridley By Gilstrap Avenue And Obrien Avenue

GRIDLEY, CALIFORNIA (June 12, 2019) – Two people were injured in a car accident involving a USPS truck on Gilstrap Avenue And Obrien Avenue.

California Highway Patrol are saying that a white pickup may have failed to stop at an intersection when it hit the USPS truck.

The force of the impact caused the white pickup truck to go into water. The female driver of the USPS truck sustained a concussion and broken bones as a result of the accident.

She was taken to a hospital in Chico in order to receive treatment. There is an ongoing investigation into the cause of the truck accident.

Liability In USPS Truck Accidents

Drivers have a responsibility to operate their vehicles according to the prevailing conditions of the road. According to California Vehicle Code 22350, “No person shall drive a vehicle upon a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable or prudent having due regard for weather, visibility, the traffic on, and the surface and width of, the highway, and in no event at a speed which endangers the safety of persons or property.” A number of accidents take place when drivers are distracted or speeding.

If a USPS truck driver is injured in an accident they will typically be entitled to worker’s compensation to cover their injuries.  According to the California Department of Industrial Relations Workers Compensation Guidebook, “If you get hurt on the job, your employer is required by law to pay for workers’ compensation benefits.” What many worker’s don’t realize is that the worker’s compensation system may not be their only form of financial relief.

An injured worker may also be able to seek benefits through a third party liability claim. For example, the injured worker could hold the negligent driver accountable through a civil claim. Damages may include money for lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. Most victim’s will not even realize the full extent of their injuries until several days after an accident. A car accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your options are.
