Pedestrian Killed In Fresno County Car Accident By The Intersection of South Avenue and Inglehart Avenue

FRESNO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA (September 30, 2019) – An elderly pedestrian was hit and killed by a drunk driver by South Avenue and Inglehart Avenue.

California Highway Patrol are saying that the accident took place around 6:00 p.m. The driver struck the bicyclist and caused him to be ejected. 

Police arrested the 19-year-old driver that hit the pedestrian on suspicion of DUI. An investigation into the car accident remains ongoing at this time.

It is a felony to operate a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and cause an accident that results in bodily injury. According to California Vehicle Code 23152, “(a) It is unlawful for a person who is under the influence of any alcoholic beverage to drive a vehicle. (b) It is unlawful for a person who has 0.08 percent or more, by weight, of alcohol in his or her blood to drive a vehicle.” Drivers that break the law and consume alcohol are likely to face civil as well as criminal liability.
