Liability In Pedestrian Accidents
Nearly 4,000 pedestrians are killed every year in car accidents. According to one report from the CDC, “almost 129,000 pedestrians were treated in emergency departments for non-fatal crash-related injuries in 2015. Pedestrians are 1.5 times more likely than passenger vehicle occupants to be killed in a car crash on each trip.” Many accidents take place when drivers fail to yield the right of way to pedestrians.
Any person that is injured in a pedestrian accident due to the negligence of another driver may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. Damages can include money for lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. Victims will typically not even realize the full extent of their injuries until several months. A car accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
