Florida Highway Patrol are saying that the truck rotated clockwise following the accident and a car attached to the truck came loose. The loose car went threw the trailer and kept going into the wood line.

Eventually the semi-truck driven by Igor Stephon Maslyanka came to rest on the grass shoulder of Interstate 10. The victim was taken to the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center in order to be treated for serious injuries.

Liability For Semi-Truck Accidents

A California employee will typically be able to receive compensation by filing a claim if they are injured on the job. It’s important to let your doctors know that your injury was caused by an accident at work. In a number of situations, worker’s compensation may not be the only remedy for an injured worker. A worker may be able to file a third party negligence claim if a company separate from their employer contributed to the accident.

According to the FMCSA, a truck accident with injuries costs on average $200,000. Worker’s compensation alone may therefore be insufficient to fully compensate an injured worker. Mechanical failures can cause very serious truck accidents and might open the door to third party negligence claims. Tire tread separations can cause a truck to veer dangerously off its path and hit cars or trees. A tread separation may occur due to excessive wear or defects with the body of the tire itself.

Trucks that transport other vehicles should have their loads properly secured. If a car gets loose this could lead to serious injury or death. There may be liability on the company for failing to secure a car properly if it came loose and contributed to an accident. Victims may be entitled to damages including lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. It’s important to have an experienced truck accident attorney examine your case for potential third party negligence.
