El Cajon Truck Accident: Motorcycle Rider Killed In El Cajon Truck Accident On Greenfield Drive By I-8 On-Ramp

EL CAJON, CALIFORNIA (July 26, 2019) – A motorcyclist has tragically died in an accident with a pickup truck on Greenfield Drive by I-8 On-Ramp.

El Cajon police are saying that the driver of a full size pick-up truck was making a left turn allegedly on a red light before it hit the motorcyclist. Firefighters and an ambulance rushed to the scene in order to help the victim.

Despite life-saving efforts, the motorcycle rider died nearly 1 hour after the collision. Authorities do not believe that either alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.

Liability In Car Accidents

All drivers have a legal responsibility to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic before making a left turn. According to California Vehicle Code 21801, “The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left or to complete a U-turn upon a highway, or to turn left into public or private property, or an alley, shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles approaching from the opposite direction which are close enough to constitute a hazard at any time during the turning movement.” Drivers that cause accidents while making left turns are likely to be found at fault.

The family members of any victim that are killed in a car accident with a driver making a left turn may have legal recourse through California Code of Civil Procedure 377.60. Damages in a civil claim can help cover all of the costs associated with an accident including funeral expenses, lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. A car accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
