DUI driver kills passenger in Temecula car accident

According to the Press-Enterprise, a 23-year-old suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol was arrested after he drove off the road and rolled into a ravine, killing his passenger on Sunday, January 28, 2018 in Temecula.

The fatal DUI car accident was reported around 8:30 a.m., when Justyn Roland Cabunoc was driving a 1995 Jeep and lost control of his vehicle due to speed. As a result, the Jeep swerved off the road, rolled into a ravine, hit a tree, and landed upside-down.

According to authorities, the vehicle was found 100 feet below the road.

The passenger, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities described the deceased victim as a 26-year-old resident of Quartz Hill.

Cabunoc sustained only minor injuries.

Cabunoc was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while driving under the influence of alcohol, along with two other DUI-related felonies.

According to authorities, Cabunoc, was released from jail on $75,000 bail on the day of the fatal DUI car accident.
