According to ABC 7, a mother was killed and her child was injured after they were struck by a suspected drunk driver in North Hills on Sunday, November 26, 2017.
The car versus pedestrian accident occurred around 10 p.m. in the 8800 block of Woodley Avenue.
According to authorities, the victim and her child were in front of their home when the suspected drunk driver struck several parked cars and struck them.
The woman, identified as 34-year-old Ruth N. Chinchilla, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Chinchilla’s 2-year-old daughter sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. She is expected to survive.
Chinchilla pushed her daughter out of the way when the driver came towards them, according to a family member that witnessed the accident.
The suspected drunk driver, who has not been identified, was arrested.
The pedestrian accident remains under investigation.
