Liability In Pedestrian Accidents
Nearly 4,000 pedestrians are killed every year in car accidents. According to the California Vehicle Code 21950, “The driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection, except as otherwise provided in this chapter.” But far too often pedestrians and cyclists are not given the right of way.
Victims of pedestrian accidents are able to file a bodily injury claim in order to recover damages. A cyclist may not even be fully aware of the extent of their injuries until many months after an accident. A traumatic brain injury, for example, can cost $85,000 after treatment. A bicycle accident attorney can help you receive compensation for your injuries.
