Corona Bus Accident: Bus Accident Involving Corona Box Truck Injured Five People On The 91 Freeway By Main Street

CORONA, CALIFORNIA (July 11, 2019) – A commuter bus was involved in an accident with a box truck on the 91 freeway by the Main Street exit.

California Highway Patrol are saying that the Corona bus accident took place around 2:55 p.m. in the HOV lane. Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene in order to help the victims.

Five people on the RTA bus complained of pain and had to be taken to the hospital. The driver of the truck does not appear to have been injured.

The bus driver and the truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. There is an ongoing investigation into what may have caused the Corona bus accident.

Liability In Corona Bus Accidents

Buses are considered common carriers under the law and are held to a high standard in terms of safety. According to Squaw Valley Ski Corporation v. Superior Court, “Common carriers bind themselves to carry safely those whom they take into their vehicles, and owe both a duty of utmost care and the vigilance of a very cautious person towards their passengers. Such carriers are responsible for any, even the slightest, negligence and are required to do all that human care, vigilance, and foresight reasonably can do under all the circumstances.”

Both trucks and buses tend to have very large blind spots. A number of accidents tend to happen when trucks or buses make unsafe lane changes and hit vehicles they didn’t realize were their. Many more accidents happen when a truck or bus isn’t paying attention to what’s ahead of them and rear-end another vehicle. Victims of bus accidents are protected by a number of laws.

Any person that is injured in a bus accident may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can include money for lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. Most commercial buses have insurance policies of at least $1,000,000 in order to help victims. A bus accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your options are.
