Pedestrian Killed In Compton Car Accident On 91 Freeway
COMPTON, CALIFORNIA (October 1, 2019) – A pedestrian was tragically killed in a car accident on the 91 Freeway after being involved in a previous accident.
According to the California Highway Patrol the accident took place sometime around 11:30 p.m. For reasons that remain under investigation a Mercedes Benz and a Scion XA were involved in an accident.
The driver of the Mercedes Benz exited his vehicle and was hit by another in the lanes of traffic. Paramedics were called to the scene in order to help the victim.
Despite life-saving efforts they were pronounced dead.
Liability In Compton Car Accidents
All drivers have a legal obligation to keep an eye out for pedestrians, even when they are outside of lawfully marked crosswalks. According to California Vehicle Code 21950, “The driver of a vehicle approaching a pedestrian within any marked or unmarked crosswalk shall exercise all due care and shall reduce the speed of the vehicle or take any other action relating to the operation of the vehicle as necessary to safeguard the safety of the pedestrian.” The family of any victim that died in a pedestrian accident may have legal recourse through California Code of Civil Procedure 377.60.
