Liability In Pedestrian Accidents
Nearly 4,000 pedestrians are killed ever year in car accidents. According to the NHTSA, “In 2013, 14 percent of all traffic fatalities and an estimated 3 percent of those injured in traffic crashes were pedestrians.” Drivers are supposed to keep an eye out for pedestrians, but this does not always happen. Most pedestrian accidents tend to take place between 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Depending on the facts of any case a driver could be held liable for a pedestrian accident.
The family of a victim that dies in a pedestrian accident may be able to seek justice through California’s Code of Civil Procedure 377.60. Damages in a wrongful death claim can help a victim’s next of kin recover compensation lost wages, medical bills and funeral expenses. A wrongful death attorney can examine the specific facts of your case and let you know what your options are.
