According to NBC, several people were injured when an L.A. Metro bus and SUV collided in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday, August 30, 2017. The crash occurred at about 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Broadway and Olympic Boulevard, injuring eight people.
According to authorities, it is unclear who was at fault but it’s suspected that one of the drivers ran a red light. The collision caused the bus, with five passengers and the driver, to strike a street light and ended on the sidewalk, damaging the metal bars of a building entrance.
Several people were standing on the sidewalk at the time of the crash; however, no one was struck after the bus went over the curb and struck a pole.
Officials said none of the people involved had life-threatening injuries. One of the drivers suffered a broken leg and a passenger on the bus is said to be in serious condition. The other victims are in fair condition.
