Chelsea Lund Killed In DUI Head-On Car Accident That Injured Kaiden Lund and Dylan Burch In Burson
BURSON, CALIFORNIA (December 26, 2018) – A 27-year-old mother identified as Chelsea Lund has tragically died in a head-on DUI car accident that injured her son Kaiden Lund and Dylan Burch.
California Highway Patrol are saying that a 1996 Chevrolet Silverado crossed over the center median and hit the victim’s car head-on. The driver of that vehicle was booked at a local jail on suspicion of DUI.
Chelsea Lund was transported to the Mark Twain Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead. Kaiden Lund and Dylan Burch were both transported to the UC Davis Medical center via life flight with major injuries.
An investigation into the cause of the accident remains ongoing at this time.
Liability In DUI Car Accidents
It is a felony to operate a motor vehicle under the influence and cause a car accident which results in great bodily injury. According to the California Vehicle Code 23152, “(b) It is unlawful for a person who has 0.08 percent or more, by weight, of alcohol in his or her blood to drive a vehicle.” Despite these requirements, drivers continue to act recklessly and endanger themselves and everyone else on the road.
Drunk driving accidents tend to spike during the holidays. If possible it’s simply best to avoid being out on the road during holidays. Victims of DUI accidents are protected by a number of laws in California. Those that sustained injuries will be able to file a bodily injury claim in order to be compensated for medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering. Even if the at-fault driver doesn’t have insurance, there are still ways to recover damages through Prop 213.
