Mario Mancara Avocado Heights: Gerardo Eullque And Mario Mancara Seriously Injured In Car Accident On The 60 Freeway In The San Gabriel Valley
AVOCADO HEIGHTS, CALIFORNIA (February 24, 2019) – Four people were injured including two CHP officers, Gerardo Eullque and Mario Mancara after a car accident on the 60 Freeway in the San Gabriel Valley.
California Highway Patrol are saying that two CHP officers were assisting a driver whose car had been disabled by the side of the 60 freeway. A man driving a Malibu down the freeway hit the driver’s side of the CHP vehicle which then pushed it into the disabled Mazda.
Gerardo Eullque was in the disabled Mazda and he was badly injured in the Crash. Mario Mancara was a passenger in the Malibu and was also injured in the crash. An investigation remains ongoing at this time, but alcohol is suspected to be a factor.
Liability In Car Accidents
According to Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (MADD), “In 2017, 9 percent of all drivers involved in fatal crashes during the day were drunk, compared to 32 percent at night. In addition, almost twice as many alcohol-related traffic fatalities occurred during the weekends compared to weekdays.” This is deeply unfortunate because there are a number of affordable, safe alternatives to driving under the influence. Rideshare services like Uber or Lyft can pick you up and take you wherever you need for very reasonable rates. There are even services that can drive you home in your own car.
It is illegal to operate a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. According to California Vehicle Code 23152, “(a) It is unlawful for a person who is under the influence of any alcoholic beverage to drive a vehicle. (b) It is unlawful for a person who has 0.08 percent or more, by weight, of alcohol in his or her blood to drive a vehicle.” Drivers that cause an accident while under the influence of alcohol may face fines, jail time as well as civil liability. Any person that is injured may be able to receive financial compensation through a personal injury claim. A car accident attorney can evaluate the specific facts of your case and let you know what your options are.
