Liability In Pedestrian Accidents
Drivers have a responsibility to operate their vehicles in a reasonably safe manner and to take steps to avoid hitting pedestrians. Far too often, drivers will become distracted or drowsy at night and fail to see pedestrians in the middle of the road. Leaving the scene of an accident that causes great bodily injury is a felony in California. There is simply no excuse for it.
Any person that is injured will have the ability to file a claim for damages in order to be compensated for medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering. Even if a hit-and-run driver is never caught, victims may still be able to get help with medical expenses under California’s Prop 213. A car accident attorney can examine the specific facts of your case and let you know what your rights are.
