Apr 10, 2019

Five People Were Injured In An Acton Propane Truck Accident On The 14 Freeway Not Far From Crown Valley Road

ACTON, CALIFORNIA (April 10, 2019) – Five people were injured in a car accident between a propane truck and a camper on the southbound lanes of the 14 freeway by Crown Valley Road.

California Highway Patrol are saying that the accident took place around 9:15 a.m. For reasons that remain under investigation, the propane tank was involved in a collision with the camper.

The tanker truck began leaking material on the ride of the freeway after rolling over. A hazmat team was called to the area in order to clean up the mess.

At least two people had to be taken to local trauma centers in order to receive treatment for their injuries. An investigation remains ongoing at this time.

Liability In Propane Truck Accidents

Propane trucks can carry thousands of pounds of propane and as very susceptible to explosions in the event of an accident. Like all other large commercial vehicles, propane trucks tend to have very large blind spots. This is why it is dangerous to drive right next to a truck. These blind spots are so large that even large vehicles can become completely obscured. Truck drivers are trained to move back and forth in their seats in order to see vehicles in their blind spots, but this doesn’t always happen.

A number of collisions take place when truck drivers make dangerous lane changes. According to the California Vehicle Code 22107, “No person shall turn a vehicle from a direct course or move right or left upon a roadway until such movement can be made with reasonable safety and then only after the giving of an appropriate signal in the manner provided in this chapter in the event any other vehicle may be affected by the movement.”

When a truck driver acts negligently and causes an accident they could face civil liability. Victims can be left with serious injuries and high medical bills. There are a number of steps that victims should take in order to help protect their rights:

  • Victims should first report the accident to law enforcement as soon as possible.
  • Victims should gather information about the truck driver including their name, phone number, drivers license and insurance information.
  • Victims should speak with witnesses and gather their information as well.
  • Victims should seek medical treatment as soon as possible.
  • Victims should contact a truck accident lawyer to discuss the specifics of their case.

Truck companies are notorious for trying their best to deny responsibility after an accident. A truck accident attorney can fight to make sure you are fairly compensated. Compensation in a personal injury claim can include money for lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. There are statute of limitations associated with being able to file a claim, so it’s important to act quickly.
