3-year-old killed in South LA pedestrian accident

According to ABC 7, a 3-year-old boy was killed in a pedestrian accident caused by a drunk driver, when he was walking with his mother on a sidewalk in South Los Angeles on Sunday, May 20, 2018.

The pedestrian accident was reported around 6 p.m. near the intersection of South Figueroa and 92nd Street, when the DUI driver, identified as George Edward Milton, was driving a Chevy Tahoe and struck the toddler and a house, then went in reverse and struck him again.

As a result of the impact, the 3-year-old boy, identified as Edan Cortez, was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Milton, who had a blood alcohol content of .08, attempted to flee the scene, but Good Samaritans restrained him until police arrived.

Milton was arrested for driving under the influence.
