According to NBC, one person was killed and six people were injured in a car accident involving multiple vehicles in Arleta on Saturday, December 2, 2017.
The car accident was reported around 9:25 a.m. at the intersection of Van Nuys and Laurel Canyon boulevards.
According to authorities, a green 2003 Ford Explorer was traveling east on Van Nuys Boulevard when it struck a black 2017 Kia Optima coming out of a driveway.
The Kia driver lost consciousness and lost control of the vehicle, which then slammed into a wall, hit a tree and female pedestrian, and knocked down a light pole.
The pedestrian, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The driver of the Kia sustained serious injuries along with four passengers in the vehicle.
The driver of the Explorer, identified as Heriberto Bautista, 38, of Pacoima, suffered minor injuries.
