According to NBC San Diego, one person was killed and six injured, including two children, in a suspected DUI crash in Coronado Sunday, August 20, 2017.
According to authorities, a Jeep heading north on Silver Strand State Highway drove over the median near Pomona Avenue, striking two other vehicles in the opposite lanes at about 12:20 a.m. The victims in a Honda SUV sustained moderate to severe injuries and one person in a Kia was also injured. The driver of the Kia also had a dog in the vehicle who was not injured and taken to a nearby animal care facility. The driver of the Jeep was in critical condition and taken to a hospital. Police believe that alcohol appears to be a factor in the collision.
