16-year-old boy killed in multi-car crash, Concord CA

A 16-year-old boy has been killed in a car crash in Concord, California, at the intersection of Galindo Street and Clayton Road. This occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon, and the crash involved multiple vehicles. The 16-year-old has been described as a pedestrian in the incident. The incident has been noted to include a truck and a bicycle.

According to officials, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene. US News states that the Contra Costa County Fire Department received reports of the collision, involving two cars and a bike, at about 3:36 p.m. Friday. Why the truck was not in this report is unknown.

San Francisco Chronicle reports that one of the drivers involved was arrested for vehicular manslaughter.

Whether the deceased 16-year-old was in a crosswalk, in travel lanes, or on the sidewalk is presently unknown. Police have confirmed that the boy was hit and killed by one of the involved vehicles.

An article by Nationwide Report explains that 4 persons, aside from the bicyclist, received medical aid at the scene of the incident. None of these were taken to the hospital.

As noted by KTVU, when Contra Costa fire officials came onto the scene, they saw that the bicyclist was pinned between a light pole and the truck. 

Reports have noted that the tree-trimming truck struck a pole and took significant damage to its front. It’s assumed that the pole and truck are the same ones that trapped the bicyclist.

The crash resulted in the streets being closed in either direction, as crews were working at the scene of the accident.
